St. Patrick Catholic School Latchkey Program
The St. Patrick Catholic School Latchkey Program is a service to provide a wholesome, safe, and healthy environment for St. Patrick Catholic School students while working parents are away from home. Only students who attend St. Patrick Catholic School are allowed. An adult supervisor, approved by the principal, will oversee the care of the students and will adhere to all policies set forth by the Catholic Diocese of Wichita and St. Patrick Catholic School.
DETAILS OF THE LATCHKEY PROGRAM Students in latchkey at 4:00 PM will be provided a snack and/or a drink. Latchkey allows time for outdoor play activities (weather permitting), as well as time for study, reading, or playing games.
LATCHKEY HOURS OF OPERATION: 3:30-5:30. Students who are not picked up by 3:30 PM will be sent to Latchkey with the parent/guardian being responsible for the fees.
LATCHKEY FEES Each child will be charged $1.00 for every 15-minute-interval starting at 3:30 and rounding up to the nearest 15 minutes. Latchkey runs from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on most regular school days. Students need to be picked up on time after school and after activities. The Latchkey policy stipulates that final pick-up is 5:30 p.m., therefore students not picked up by 5:30 p.m. will be billed at the 50¢ per minute per child late free rate. These late fees would apply also to students not picked up promptly on early release days, from the YMCA Middle School After School Program (MSASP), or from any other activity. Pre-Kindergarten students are eligible to enroll in Latchkey.
LATCHKEY LATE PAYMENT PENALTY Payment of all fees is due by the assigned due date. Any balances past due will be assessed a penalty of 50% of the total outstanding balance, not to exceed $5 unless previously notified otherwise. Students will not be allowed to use this service if the bill is overdue by one month. This penalty is charged on each subsequent billing until the balance is paid in full.
MEDICATIONS-LATCHKEY The Latchkey supervisor will not assume the responsibility for administering medications of any nature to any student. If a child has a Medication Administration Form on file in the office and office personnel have left for the day, the medication will not be administered.
LATCHKEY CONDUCT General conduct, as outlined in the St. Patrick Catholic School Handbook, will be observed in the Latchkey program. A disruptive child may be required to sit for reflection away from the others, or he/she may be sent to the principal. Continued disruptive behavior may be cause for dismissal from the Latchkey program.
YMCA Middle School After School Program (6-8) is separate from the St. Patrick’s Latchkey program and information on how to enroll in this program is sent home at the beginning of the school year each year.
